Restore Responds to Damages from Chicago Riots

When demonstrations and protests in the Chicago area spiraled into looting and rioting, Franklin Park-based Restore Restoration Inc. was among those who mobilized to secure buildings, preventing further damage and theft to businesses.

“This was an incredibly challenging time for many communities in the Chicago area,” Restore Vice President Michael Santoro said. “While the personal safety of thousands of people was the number one concern, dozens of buildings were being damaged. Protecting the property, the businesses — the livelihoods — of so many people was where Restore could help.” Restaurants, a bank, a jeweler and other businesses were boarded up within a few hours of the destruction.

Over the evening of May 30-31, Restore completed 25 emergency board-ups in response to broken windows and doors, burglaries, and one fire. Some Restore crew members worked closely with the Town of Cicero, following police from break-in to break-in so that the buildings could be quickly secured.

Restore continued to help protect an additional 20 businesses over the next several days, by doing preventive board-ups, primarily along a busy stretch in Downers Grove.

Restore Restoration Inc. and Restore Construction Inc. are family-owned and -operated entities that have been assisting homeowners and business owners in the Chicagoland area for nearly 40 years. Restore has helped more than 10,000 residential and commercial customers recover from fire, flood, and storm damage.
