Biohazard and Trauma Cleanup
One Call for the Cleanup and the Repairs After It
A biohazard cleanup often means removing materials we can’t clean, which leaves a room that still needs rebuilding. We handle the cleanup and then manage those repairs, so the room is usable again without you having to find a second contractor.
These calls usually come at the hardest moments, from families, landlords, and business owners who never expected to need this kind of help. We keep each job discreet, explain the work before we start, and treat everyone involved with respect.
How It Works
What to Expect From Our Biohazard and Trauma Cleanup
Our biohazard and trauma cleanup has four stages, beginning with your call and ending with the repairs to the room.
We answer and assess the scene
We answer 24/7 and can talk you through what to do first. Once the police and the medical examiner or coroner release the scene, we look at the affected area and tell you what the cleanup and repairs will involve.
We remove contaminated materials
We remove the flooring, drywall, and other porous materials the fluids soaked into, so you don’t have to touch any of it.
We clean, disinfect, and deodorize
We clean and disinfect the hard surfaces that stay, then deodorize the room, so the smell is far less likely to linger or drift into the surrounding spaces.
We restore the room
We manage replacing the flooring, drywall, and other materials that came out, so the room is ready to use again.
Common Causes
What Are the Most Common Reasons for Biohazard Cleanup?
Biohazard cleanup isn’t limited to crime scenes. Deaths, injuries, accidents, and sewage backups can all leave blood, body fluids, or other contaminants in a home or business, and we handle the cleanup after each of them.
Crime Scenes
A crime can leave blood and other materials on floors, walls, and furniture, often spread farther than the scene looks at first glance.
Deaths in the Home
When someone passes away at home, the bedding, flooring, and furniture nearby can need specialized cleanup and disinfection.
Deaths and Injuries in Rental Units
When a tenant dies or is badly hurt in an apartment, the landlord needs the unit cleaned and repaired before anyone lives there again.
Serious Injuries at Home
A bad fall or accident can leave blood on carpet, upholstery, and walls that looks cleaned up but can still carry a health risk.
Workplace Accidents
An injury at a business can leave blood on floors, equipment, and fixtures that needs cleanup before anyone works there again.
Sewage Backflow
Sewage that backs up into a building carries bacteria and viruses into floors and walls and needs cleanup before anyone uses the space again.

Our specialty
Fire and Smoke Damage Restoration
We clear out what burned after a fire, even a fatal one, and clean the soot from what remains, so the family isn’t left sorting through it alone.
Emergency Board-Up and Securing
Our crews secure a property left empty after a death or crime, so fewer people can get inside while we clean and repair the space.
Board-Up and Securing →Water Damage Restoration
We dry the water a pipe leak leaves behind and keep the humidity down in the surrounding rooms so less of the damage creeps into them.
Water Damage Restoration →Contents Cleaning and Storage
Our contents team packs belongings from the unaffected rooms and stores them at our facility, so they stay away from the cleanup.
Contents Cleaning →Reconstruction and Repairs
We assign a project manager to the repairs that follow the cleanup, so you have someone to ask about the schedule and the work ahead.
Reconstruction →Insurance Claim Management
Our estimators prepare a detailed estimate for the cleanup and the repairs after it, so your insurer has one clear picture of the work.
Insurance Claims →Storm Damage Restoration
We dry the interior after wind or hail lets water in, so the rooms inside take on less damage while we handle the roof repairs above.
Storm Damage Restoration →Mold Removal and Remediation
We seal off a moldy area when the job calls for it, so less mold spreads into the rest of the building during removal.

Biohazard Cleanup FAQs
Chicago Biohazard and Trauma Cleanup FAQs
Don’t the police clean up the scene after they leave?
No. The police and the medical examiner or coroner investigate and release the scene, but the cleanup usually falls to the property owner, landlord, or family. That’s the part we handle.
Can I clean it up myself?
We’d advise against it. Blood and other body fluids can carry disease, and contamination often spreads under flooring and into walls where you can’t see it. We remove the affected materials and clean what’s left, so no one in your family or business has to handle it.
What should I do before you get here?
Call 911 first if a death or crime hasn’t been reported. Keep everyone, including pets, out of the area, and don’t start cleaning. If you touched blood or other fluids, wash with soap and water right away and check with a doctor. You can call us at any time.
When can we use the room again?
Once the cleanup and any repairs are done. How long that takes depends on how far the fluids spread and what has to come out, and after we’ve seen the room, we tell you what timeline to expect.
Will my insurance pay for biohazard cleanup?
It can, depending on your policy and what happened, so check your coverage and talk with your insurer. When it’s covered, we bill your insurer directly and work with your adjuster on the cleanup and repairs.
What gets thrown out, and what can be cleaned?
It depends on what the fluids reached. Soft materials that absorbed them, like a mattress, a sofa, or the pad under the carpet, usually have to go, while we can typically clean and disinfect sealed surfaces such as tile, metal, and finished wood. We show you what we plan to remove, and why, before we take anything out.
Why can the smell spread to other rooms?
Because the odor comes from fluids soaked into the materials, not just the surface. Fluids can seep into the subfloor and wall cavities, and air moving through the building carries the smell into nearby rooms. That’s why we remove the soaked materials, including the subfloor when it’s affected, before we deodorize.
